I’ve been growing beards, moustaches, goatees and sideburns for 14 years. I was the first in my group to grow a beard, which was dubbed “The Don-Beard” when I was 19 years old. At first everyone got a big kick out of it, but it soon became part of my personal style. Since then, I’ve experimented with different styling and length usually changing / reshaping / trimming every few months. I currently live in Ocean Beach in San Diego, California, where the beards “flow like wine” and wearing a beard is commonplace and very accepted & encouraged. My latest beard was started in San Diego, but I’ve been doing most of my growing in the warm, mild climate of Ecuador, South America, where it has flourished. I am excited to return to San Diego to recruit more beard enthusiasts to join Beard Team USA and compete in the Nationals in Bend, OR on June 5th!
