Larry Donaldson

Larry Donaldson has been growing his beard for America for almost 40 years, last shaving on his 21st birthday in 1971. He is a Chemical Engineer with BASF Catalyst doing process control automation projects for a kaolin clay processing plant in Georgia. His interests are beards, old theaters, and pipe organs. He has been involved with the Wurlitzer pipe organ restoration at the Alabama Theatre in Birmingham since 1969, currently crew chief. Funding for the restoration is provided by Alabama Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society, a non-profit dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the uniquely American musical heritage, the theatre pipe organ which was originally designed for accompanying silent movies. He is also on the Board of Directors for The Alabama Theatre (Birmingham Landmarks, Inc), a non-profit corporation that owns and operates the Alabama Theatre complex and the Lyric Theatre.
