Gerhard Knapp from Pforzheim, Germany, can rightfully claim the title of Grandfather of freestyle bearding. Knapp, now 77, is a professional hairstylist who began styling his beard as early as 1995, when he was instrumental in organizing the world championships held in Pforzheim.
He will be competing in the full beard freestyle category at the National Beard and Moustache Championships in Las Vegas.
Gerhard is also president of the Pforzheim Beard Friends Club, which will be in Las Vegas with a delegation of 13 competitors, fans, and friends.
