Georgia's own Bill Mitchell, who took first place in the freestyle category at the New York City Beard and Moustache Competition on December 4, was also crowned best in show based on crowd acclamation. But the big winner of the night was event organizer Myk O'Connor who brought the house down when he publicly proposed marriage to co-organizer Karolina Gwiazda just after announcing the results. She said yes. Myk and Karolina met on board the official BTUSA cruise to Alaska for the 2009 WBMC in Alaska.
The event raised money for the Feel Good Foundation, which supports 9/11 first responders.
